In 2021, I embarked on a personal journey captured in a photography series titled Datamorphosis. This project became a mirror reflecting my evolving relationship with self-perception, blending the lines between reality and virtuality.
At its core, the series presents a single portrait - my own - in its raw authenticity. Yet, through the lens of FaceApp, I transformed this image into ten distinct variations, each portraying a different facet of feminine expression.
With each swipe of digital alteration, I explored new hairstyles, experimented with makeup, and redefined facial features. The result was a collection of personas, each embodying a unique allure and charm.
However, beneath the surface of playful experimentation lay a deeper emotional journey. At the time, I grappled with feelings of dysphoria about my appearance. Through FaceApp, I found solace in reshaping my reflection to align with the image I longed to see.
Crafting these digital alter egos transported me back to moments of childhood innocence, where imagination knew no bounds. „Datamorphosis“ invites viewers to ponder the connection between our real and virtual identities, and the emotional implications of digital transformation on our sense of self.
